NdFeB magnets, also known as neodymium magnets, have superior magnetic properties and are used extensively in electronics, motors, medical devices, toys, packaging, hardware machinery, aerospace and other sectors.

When selecting NdFeB magnets, many people have no idea how to buy the right neodymium magnets since there are many grades of NdFeB magnets out there. Therefore, some tips are listed below to help you make a better choice.

1. Choose the right coating

Firstly, you need to know the working environment where neodymium permanent magnets are needed. Depending on the exterior environment where the magnet will work, we can choose the coating needed for the magnet.

Common Coatings: nickel-copper, zinc, black nickel, silver, gold, epoxy resin, Teflon, rubber, etc.

Zinc plating and nickel plating are the two most common coatings. Epoxy resin coating has excellent corrosion resistance, while Teflon has high-temperature resistance.

2. Determine the required neodymium magnet grade

Next, we need to know the required magnetic force and magnet shape. After determining the magnet shape and magnetic force, we then select the appropriate grade of neodymium magnet.

At Bestway Magnet, you can find neodymium magnets from N35 to N52 grade, the higher the number, the stronger the magnetic force.

Available Grades: N35-N52, 30M-50M, 30H-48H, 30SH-45SH, 30UH-40UH and 30EH-38EH (For specific data, please click here to check our detailed parameter table)

Available Shapes: block, disc, cylinder, rod, ring, arc, countersink, trapezoid and other customized shapes.

3. Know the working temperature

Third, before buying neodymium magnets, we should know the working temperature where the magnet is located. If the working temperature is below 80℃, we choose the N series. When the working temperature is between 80℃ and 120℃, we choose the H series.

In addition, the SH series can withstand 150℃, while the UH series can withstand 180℃. When the working temperature is higher than 200 ℃, we have the EH and AH series for your choice.

Working Temperature of NdFeB Magnets:

  • N series ≤80 °C

  • H series  80 °C-120°C

  • SH series ≤150 °C

  • UH series ≤180 °C

  • EH series ≤200 °C

  • AH series ≤230 °C

Conclusion

We hope the tips in this blog will help you to buy the right neodymium magnets. If you want to know more about neodymium magnets and other types of magnets, you can always contact Bestway Magnet.
